Watercolor, paper, 47 x 61 cm, signed p. d.: 'WS'
He painted his first oil painting at the age of 7. It depicted a gray sad street and houses with empty window sockets. He soon began collecting awards in art competitions. He has had many group and solo exhibitions. In 1965 he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, where the original character of his art was, in a sense, doctored: classical figuration with
deformations of solids and objects typical of the author and a tendency to build his own anatomical construction of the body. Szpinger's painting is an erudite display supported by excellent technique,
formally refined, as evidenced by compositions of intricate construction and technique like those of the old masters. From his protoplasts, Szpinger took over their dazzling technique and solidity of workmanship, precision and craftsmanship. In addition to his fascination with Flemish and Dutch art, echoes of dark Scandinavian legends and myths can be found in Vladimir Szpinger's paintings, but also an infatuation with the sunny landscapes and bright colors of southern Europe and the entire Mediterranean culture. In his work there is the fiery mysticism of the Middle Ages, and at the same time Renaissance joy and delight in the beauty of the
world. Searching out these affinities - including authorial references, mainly to Hieronymus Bosch, the Breughels, Dürer or Memling - is a favorite pastime of Szpinger's art reviewers.
The artist's works have been shown in many museums and art galleries - including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Rotterdam, Dortmund, Bielefeld, Dusseldorf, Gdansk and Warsaw.
