Joanna Sierko-Filipowska studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she received her diploma with distinction in 1985 in the studio of Prof. Halina Chrostowska with an annex of painting in the studio of Prof. Jerzy Tchórzewski. In 1986 the artist received a creative scholarship from the Minister of Culture and Art. Joanna Sierko-Filipowska's paintings are characterized by a wealth of colors, combined in interesting color combinations, which spread an aura of mystery. Sometimes the artist saturates the colors with lamplight or shimmering reflections of crystals. She creates a fairy-tale like surreal world full of magic. The world designed by her is filled with mysterious gardens, decorated with fanciful plants, unknown species of butterflies and flowers. The paintings are filled with sensuality and symbolism, leaving the viewer to make his own interpretation. The artist likes to paint in cycles. There have been cycles devoted to travel, gardens or fashion designers such as John Galliano and Vivienne Weestwood. In her exquisite workshop paintings, the painter always pays attention to details and sublime refinement. Each of her paintings is unique and very personal.
