The world-famous glass manufactory, today existing under the name "Cristallerie Daum", was founded in 1875 as "Verrerie de Nancy". In 1887, the company was taken over by two brothers, Auguste and Antonin Daum, who took over the artistic direction. It was during their tenure that the big names of Art Nouveau representatives such as Jacques Gruber (who worked for the Daum brothers from 1893 to 1897), Henri Bergé (from 1900), Almaric Walter and Charles Schneider made their debut.
With the gradual loss of public interest in Art Nouveau, the company after 1918 began to fine-tune its business to the new conditions of production, adapting quality, technology and, above all, visual qualities to the prevailing canons.Since then, art deco began to reign in design. Demand is high, and the company is developing well. At the same time, it actively participates in exhibitions, including: in Barcelona (1923), at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris (1925) or at the Colonial Exhibition in Paris (1931).
