The cutlery goats were made by the French company Baccarat, founded in 1764 by Monsignore de Montmorency-Laval, Bishop of Metz. In the 19th century, it expanded its operations with additional glass decorating departments in other cities and workshops. This allowed the production of glassware with a variety of styles and purposes. English-style objects, agate glass, colored glass, polished glass, engraved glass, and from 1846, millefiori glass modeled after Venetian workshops also appeared. From its beginnings to the present day, Baccarat has produced high-lead glassware at a very high level.
