Lot description
Estimations: 1 000 - 1 800 EUR
Coated bronze. 18 x 16 x 10,5 cm

A pitcher inspired by unknown archeological findings, perhaps Pompeian.

The smooth, ovoidal body features an elegant, plant-shaped handle that ends in a winged cupid. A little goat sits on the ribbed spout.

Items such as this were designed for the Grand Tour and meant for the eyes of wealthy and cultured tourists enamored with classical antiquities.
A fine taste born in the 1700s and well alive up until the first decades of the 1800s.

A finely crafted jug with an exquisite coating.
