Biography
Leopold Kretz (1907 Lviv - 1990 Paris) - Polish sculptor, graphic artist and painter working in France. He was born in 1907 in Lviv, where he began to learn drawing, and then continued his artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow under the direction of K. Dunikowski. In 1931, after receiving a scholarship, he settled in Paris where he studied under A. Bourdelle at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and the Colarossi academy. He presents his first personal exhibition in Paris in 1932. Beginning in 1945, Kretz divides his time between creating and teaching. 1945-50 professor at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, 1950-1974 at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Reims, 1957-1983 at the Higher National School of Fine Arts in Paris. He participates in numerous exhibitions in France, London, Brussels, Prague and Vienna.
