Biography
Joachim Weingart, also Weingarten (1895 Drohobych - 1942 Auschwitz) - Polish painter of Jewish origin. After graduating from gymnasium in Lviv, he began studying drawing at the School of Art Industry in Weimar in 1912. From 1914 he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Thanks to a scholarship funded by Karl Katz, he went to Berlin in 1916 and then to Paris in 1923. In Paris, together with Alfred Aberdam, Leon Weissberg and Sigmund Menks, they formed the "Group of Four." Their joint exhibition was held in 1925 at the gallery "Au Sacre du Printemps," run by Jan Sliwinski. Joachim Weingart had solo exhibitions in renowned galleries in Paris and London, as well as in Poland in Lvov and Warsaw.
