Kazimierz Pochwalski (born December 25, 1855 in Cracow, died November 7, 1940 there) - painter, known mainly as a portraitist, considered a master of representational portraiture. In addition, he practiced religious and genre painting, and left behind many sketches of landscapes, flowers and still lifes. He painted genre paintings, eastern scenes and, above all, excellent portraits, framed realistically, with a clear influence of contemporary French portraiture. Major portraits: rectors of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Henryk Sienkiewicz, Pawel Popiel, Count Leon Pininski, Count Agenor Goluchowski, Jozef Ignacy Kraszewski. He also painted religious paintings and landscapes. He was the son of painter Jozef Kasper Pochwalski.
