Biography
In 1913-14 he studied at the academy in Munich. From 1917 he stayed in Moscow, where he learned about the art of the Russian avant-garde. He continued his studies in 1921-23 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Teodor Axentowicz. He also studied in the studio of Alexander Archipenko in Berlin in 1922 -23. In 1923 he went to Paris, where he became associated with the Ecole de Paris circle. He exhibited in Warsaw, Paris, London, Tel - Aviv, among other places. Together with Zygmunt Menkes, Joachim Weingart, Leon Weissberg, he formed the "Group of Four". He painted landscapes, figural scenes and still lifes, as well as scenes of music-making and theatrical interiors. He exhibited at the Autumn Salons in Paris, Galerie Zak and Bernheim-Jeune, among others, as well as at exhibitions of Polish art in Paris, Lviv, Cracow and Warsaw. He was a member of the Group of Independent Artists. His paintings can be seen at the National Museum in Warsaw, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and the Tel-Aviv Museum, among others.
