Distillery description
Rosebank is a renowned Scottish distillery located in the Lowlands, specifically in Falkirk. Founded in 1840 by James Rankin, it quickly gained fame for its light and floral whisky style, characteristic of Lowland expressions. Rosebank was notable for its use of a three-pot still, similar to Auchentoshan, which contributed to the distillery's fine and complex character. The distillery closed in 1993, primarily due to the challenging economic conditions in the whisky industry and difficulties with modernization. In 2017, Ian Macleod Distillers announced plans to reopen Rosebank, focusing on preserving the original three-pot distillation and authentic production processes that defined the distillery. After extensive reconstruction, Rosebank reopened in 2023, marking the return of one of the most iconic Lowland whiskies to the market. Due to its unique history and limited availability, Rosebank has become a highly sought-after and collectible whisky among enthusiasts.
