Pléntitude Madiran Rouge 0.75L 14.5%, 2015 vintage 2 bottles; Known as early as Gallo-Roman times, Madiran owes its geographical location to the fact that it became a favorite wine of pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Henri IV of Bearnais made it a court wine. Plénitude des Producteurs Plaimont is an AOC Madiran produced by a cooperative founded in 1979 in Saint-Mont, Gers. It is an illustration of the desire of local winemakers to unite to restore regional wines to the lost luster of years ago. The acronym "Plaimont" is a contraction of the Plaisance, Aignan and Saint-Mont cellars. Producers belonging to the cooperative adhere to precise specifications that guarantee professional ethics and the search for recognized quality. Plénitude de Plaimont is a blend of Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon. After hand-harvesting and legally required de-stemming, the wine is vinified according to grape variety, with gentle extraction to control the strength of the Tannat tannins. The wine is aged in oak barrels for at least 10 months. The color is a very dark purple with black highlights. Complex nose with aromas of blackberry, black currant, plum and hints of leather and tobacco. Powerful and tannic on the palate, with the intensity of a Tannat. Estimated price: £550-650
