Sierra de Gredos, Spain
Comments
Comando G is the project of two dynamic winemakers, Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia. It is one of the most exciting wine stories of recent years, one of the most important representatives of the new wave in Spain, and some of the most remarkable and simply the best interpretations of the garnacha varietal anywhere in the world.
Daniel and Fernando have found and brought back to life old, forgotten
and scattered over the Sierra de Gredos region vineyards with old
vines growing on rocky, granite soils. A few years of
of work was enough for the whole world to hear about them. They use Burgundian farming and vinification methods in their work, and the way they position their wines is also Burgundian. That's why we have village, 1er and grand cru level wines. Each wine reflects the character of the terroir from which it comes. The vines are managed in a
natural, fermentation is spontaneous, and winemaking is
as low intervention as possible.
Rumbo al Norte is the Grand Cru of the Alto Alberche valley in Gredos. It's a tiny crop, just 0.3 hectares. The 2020 vintage of this wine rubs
perfection: a rich bouquet, a concentrated but energetic body and a virtually endless bouquet of red forest fruits, earth, rocks, smoke and spice.
One of Spain's most desirable wines, and for a very good reason.
