Distillery description
Balvenie is a Scottish distillery in the Speyside region, founded in 1892 by William Grant near Dufftown. Named after the nearby Balvenie Castle, the distillery is known for its traditional methods, including its own barley malting and cooperage. Balvenie's distillate is renowned for its sweet, honeyed character. In 1993, it pioneered "secondary" aging with its DoubleWood edition, maturing whisky first in ex-bourbon casks and then in ex-sherry casks. The distillery offers various expressions, such as the 17-year-old DoubleWood and the 14-year-old Caribbean Cask. It is owned by William Grant & Sons. Bottle description
