Gambrinus Brewery was founded by the Jewish Sercarz family in 1879, in Gzichow (a district of Bedzin). The company was transformed into a joint-stock company in 1911 under the name Towarzystwo Akcyjne Browaru Steamowego i Maltownia Sercarz Dawid.
In the 1930s, the brewery was counted among the most significant in the country (production of 25,000 hl per year). In addition to brewing beer, they also produced carbonated waters - mineral and fruit - and artificial ice.
Products from Gambrinus Brewery were well recognized, especially in southern Poland, where the company had many representative offices. The company grew steadily, showing increasing profits, year after year, even during the crisis of the 1930s.
