oil, acrylic, canvas, 60 x 60 cm signed, dated and described on the reverse: MARTYNA CZECH "BŁĘDNE KOŁO" 60X60 CM, oil, acrylic on canvas, 2017/MARTYNA CZECH/"BŁĘDNE 60 X 60 CM/oil&acrylic on canvas, 2017
Martyna Czech was born in 1990 in Tarnow, Poland. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland, graduating in 2017 in the studio of Andrzej Tobis. Even before her graduation, she was the winner of the 42nd Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale in 2015. The jury's verdict divided viewers. Czech's paintings have been stirring emotions and controversy since her acclaimed debut and the artist's uncompromising nature is one of her trademarks. In her expressive, multicolored canvases, Czech reveals her critical attitude toward the human species. The irony, obscenity and turpitude present in her work are among the leading currents in the art of a generation of young artists in Poland and abroad. Martyna Czech, alongside artists such as Aleksandra Waliszewska and Karolina Jablonska, was a pioneer of this aesthetics and attitude. Her compositions are based primarily on color stain with expressive and saturated colors. The protagonists of Chekhov's paintings are people and animals, whose roles and relationships interpenetrate each other, revealing new, hidden faces of species.
