Janusz Tworek
My name is Janusz Tworek. I have been an architect for almost 40 years. Like everyone who practices this profession, I am suspended between artistic sensibility and engineering precision of thought. This strange mixture makes not many musicians (e.g. Grechuta) , painters (e.g. Beksinski) , and other artists (e.g. Mleczko) in this profession. I have always drawn, including before my studies. During my studies, drawing was one of the most important subjects. During this period I also took part in a very interesting scientific project dealing with the archiving of Polish wooden architecture. It was a sharp school of drawing from nature for me. I did it often and after graduation, taking advantage of free moments while practicing my profession. At that time I was also active in the Cracow Youth Group which resulted in an exhibition of joint works. In addition to drawing, I made attempts at ceramics, stained glass and finally took up painting. I also dabbled in photography for most of my life. I only really started painting after going to Tenerife, where I have lived for 6 years. The special atmosphere of this island, the openness of the people there is conducive to working on myself. I am constantly searching. In addition to painting, I continue to draw and pencil and charcoal and pastels. Sometimes I take up other techniques as well. All this makes me do things very different, both in terms of mood and expression. A lot depends on the atmosphere of the moment I am in. Living in Tenerife, I met three exceptional people with a kindness and cheerfulness characteristic of the Canary Islands. Fate brought me into contact with the outstanding artist Javier Huerta, who is a professional yet self-taught artist. During his artistic path, in 2007 he was invited by the Asociacion "ARTEVIE" to participate in the exhibition "Affiches Originales 1943-1975" in France at the Abbaye de Cercanceaux , where his 16 sculptures were exhibited with works by artists such as Braque, Chagall, Miro, Dali, Picasso, Matisse, Ibanez, Soulage, Van Dongen, Zao Wou Ki.... Thedozens of works I have done are inspired by my contacts with these unique Tenerife residents.
