A monumental work by Kasper Niesiecki (1682-1744), a distinguished Polish heraldist. The reissue of the 1728 edition by J. N. Bobrowicz was updated and supplemented with material from the works of subsequent generations of Polish genealogists and historians, including W. Wielądek, P. Małachowski, E. Kuropatnicki, J. A. Załuski, Ign. Krasicki, A. Naruszewicz, J. Lelewel. "One may wonder how one man could cope with such a huge work.
This work does not lose in comparison with contemporary world genealogical literature, and in Poland, during the period of decline of writing and science, it was something quite exceptional. [...] Considering the fact that the newer heraldry, that of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, was not completed, Niesiecki's work remains to this day an indispensable aid to all genealogical and biographical research" (Dworzaczek, in: Polski Słownik Biograficzny).
Complete edition, pieces in very good state of preservation, with local occasional discoloration and the ownership stamp of Prince J. Puzyna on the title page. Volumes in a classic bibliophilic binding made by Antykwariat Polski.
