The Martian Chronicles, oryg. The Martian Chronicles - a collection of Ray Bradbury's 1950 science-fiction short stories, written in chronicle form, depicting the history of the conquest of Mars by Earthlings between 1999 and 2026.
Metaphorically depicted, the colonization of an alien planet by profit- and thrill-hungry Earthlings comes at the expense of destroying the prevailing intelligent civilization on Mars. The author shows his discouragement towards the modern American civilization, full of complacency, sense of superiority and lack of understanding of other cultures and nations.
