Józef Brandt coat of arms Przysluga (born February 11, 1841 in Szczebrzeszyn, died June 12, 1915 in Radom)-Polish painter, battle painter, representative of the Munich school. Jozef Brandt's works, in addition to Polish museums, are in the collections of museums in Munich, Berlin and Dresden. In 1870 he settled permanently in Munich, where he opened a studio. From 1875 he ran a private painting school, becoming the leader of the so-called Munich school of Polish painting, which included Aleksander Gierymski, Bohdan Kleczynski, Alfred Kowalski, Tadeusz Ajdukiewicz, Wojciech Kossak, Leon Wyczółkowski, among others. He mainly created genre and battle paintings and historical paintings on subjects related to the Cossack, Tatar and Swedish wars of the 17th century. [za: min. Wikipedia].
