Biography
Grzegorz Rosiński is one of the more recognizable Polish cartoonists. He gained fame mainly as the author of the cult series "Thorgal", created since the 1970s. He graduated from the Warsaw High School of Fine Arts and then from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. After receiving his diploma, he created book illustrations (including a series of youth war books "Attention, Freckles!" by Kazimierz Dębnicki, comic series "Legendary History of Poland", "Captain Wildcat" and "Helicopter Pilot". He also served as art director of "Relax" magazine - a cult item in which Polish and foreign picture stories were published. In the mid-1970s Rosiński left for Belgium to develop his artistic career there. There he met Jean Van Hamme, with whom he formed an unusual duo. The fruit of this duo became the internationally recognized "Thorgal" comic series, which is still published today. In 1987 they created the award-winning novel "Szninlkiel" together. Originally in black and white, it was reissued in color years later. In addition to framing and comic book panels, Rosinski creates excellent quality sketches, designs, paintings and book illustrations. Rosiński experiments. He often goes beyond the boundaries of classically understood comics by combining comics with painting.
