One of the finest woodcuts of the period with the theme of the January Uprising, made by Jules Worms (1832-1924), painter, illustrator, draughtsman, winner of many awards for artists (author of the composition) and woodcutters working in Paris in the company Best, Cosson, Smeeton & Cie. According to Piotr Pawel Gach, author of the article "The January Uprising in the pages of theParisian weekly "L'Illustration. Journal Universel", published in the periodical "Niepodległość i Pamiąć" No. 19, 2003, p. 28, the author of the source sketch for the composition was Michal Elwiro Andriolli.
