Archbishop M. Fijałkowski graduated from the gymnasium in Gniezno in 1801. Canon of Wloclawek. He was chaplain of the 1830/31 uprising troops. From 1842 auxiliary bishop of Plock. From 1856 metropolitan of Warsaw. He protested against tsarist repression in 1861. His funeral on October 10, 1861 was a patriotic demonstration.
