Portrayed portrait captured in 3/4 figure, sitting posing for a commemorative photograph. Photo pasted on original cardboard backing. On the lower margin of the backing gilt print: "J. Mien Cracovie Zakopan". On the back an advertising vignette of the establishment printed: "Jules Mien Cracovie Podwale 13 Zakopane Krupówki 45". Attached is an original protective T-shirt behind the atelier's address at 8 Kopernika St. Good condition.
H. Popielecka (1890-1972) - painter, later wife of Franciszek Goc.
J. Mien (1842-1905) - writer, translator of French literature, photographer. A pupil of Avit Szubert. Since 1887 he ran an atelier together with Jozef Sebald at 31 Slawkowska St. In 1893 he opened his own establishment at 8 Kopernika St., and the following year at 13 Podwale St. and 24 Market Square St. In 1897 he opened a branch in Zakopane at 45 Krupówki St. In 1894 he received a medal at an exhibition in Lvov. His specialty was photographs of children. His establishment was specially stocked for this purpose with equipment adapted to the age and play of children. After his death until 1919, the establishment was run by his daughter Klementyna.
