Joanna Sarapata was born in 1962 in Warsaw. In 1983 she moved to Paris. The artist is a graduate of Paris' L'ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts. In addition to painting, she has worked in stage design and poster design. In 1986, she won the top prize in a poster competition for the Paris Opera, organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris.
The main theme of her paintings is the female nude. Characteristic of Joanna Sarapata's paintings is the portrayal of women without eyes. The body of the figure, its positioning, pose and gesture express women's moods and desires. The artist's work is a subjective guide to female nature. The painter points to European cities, cinema, music and books as sources of inspiration. Joanna Sarapata often uses mixed techniques-watercolor, ink, brush and pen, paintings are usually created on canvas or cardboard.
