Jacek SIKORA (b. 1967, Lodz)
Actor, painter and traveler, graduate of Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris, Marcel Marceau and Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique, he began his adventure with art from the Pantomime Studio at the State Jewish Theater in Warsaw. He also studied anatomy at the Medical Academy in Wroclaw. He is the creator of dreamy landscapes, nostalgic portraits, monochromatic nudes and minimalist abstractions. His work is situated on the borderline between figurativeness and abstraction, static and dynamic, subtlety and expression. The essence of his works, in which the subject is subordinated to the composition, is invariably jittery matter and the play of light reflections. Today, Sikora's paintings can be found in collections in the UK, the US, Australia, Russia, France, the Arab Emirates and Japan. His artistic path has evolved from acting and mime to visual arts and easel painting. Infatuated with traditional Japanese art - sumi-e ink painting on rice paper - he is returning to monochromatic color-based figurative art, which today is clearly evolving towards abstraction. A visible inspiration in Sikora's works is the work of Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Mark Rothko. He lives and works in Swidnica.
