signed, dated and described on the reverse: UNDERSTANDING | 80 x 80 cm | FROM INTERFERENCJE SERIES | Slats | PLATE | PAPER | BAMBUS - ACRYL | 2018 | JACEK DYRZYŃSKI | MOUNTING TIP.
The idea of "rational construction" of an image is a kind of artistic credo of Jacek Dyrzynski. The figure of the square became the starting point for his constructive search. The square disciplines, sets the framework of the experiment, but the square field gives freedom of creation. Dyrzynski creates relief paintings in which spatial effects are largely dependent on the way colors are used. The presented object is divided into two horizontal strips, which provide a negative-positive contrast for each other. In the case of both parts, we encounter, as in many compositions from the "Interferences" series, the "surprise of the horizontal line" - a line that disappears in places, a line that plays a game with vertical elements. The whole is a visual puzzle for the viewer. Moving in front of the object, we can observe the apparent movement of the plans, which optically interfere.
