"The high level of artistic execution is noteworthy: the modeling of the face is precise and subtle, the hair is painted delicately and softly - in a more traditionally Dutch rather than 16th-century German manner. The part of the landscape background was also executed very delicately, valorously, with a suggestion of the division into three color plans typical of the period [...]. In conclusion, it can be suggested that the painting was created in the Cologne milieu, under the influence of Barthel Bruyn St., in the year 1522 given on the frame. However, one must not exclude the possibility that the painting was created in the broader Dutch circle, rather then the Northern Dutch." [quoted from: opinion by A. Ziemba].
