Krystyna Nowakowska creates unique sculptures in wax, which is cast in bronze using the lost wax technique, as a result of which the wax prototype is destroyed. Each casting is made only once, making each of the artist's works unique. She received her diploma from the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Prof. Jerzy Bandura in 1979. Her works have been exhibited in Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria and France, among others. She received an art scholarship from the Minister of Culture and Art and a creative scholarship from the City of Cracow. In 2016, she was awarded the Bronze Medal "Meritorious for Culture Gloria Artis" by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland. The artist's sculptural works are in the collections of the Historical Museum of the City of Cracow, in the collections of the City Gallery in Csongrad (Hungary), Mikolow, Iserlohn in Germany, in the Museum of the People's Republic of Poland in Nowa Huta, as well as in public spaces.
The starting point in Krystyna Nowakowska's work is the woman. Her figure and emotionality is treated with subtle grace, enclosed by the artist in a finite form, not devoid of the charm of understatement. The intriguing works of the sculptor, created with consistency, but still with fresh creativity, are a story about everyday life, passing, the turns of human fate.
