The famous 7% Confederate cotton bond from the Civil War period in the U.S. 1861-1865. The Southern states, in seceding, acted like an independent state including issuing their own bonds for warfare with the Union. Their main goal was to raise funds with their European partners, the recipients of cotton from the South - England and France. Decorative motifs with a vignette depicting a female figure with the Confederate flag against the sea sitting on piles of cotton.
