Very nice state of preservation. Gently bent, but clear mint luster. Appreciated with the MS61 note.
The vintage present in our offer for the first time.
The mint in Danzig minted the gold coin from the very beginning of the reign of John Casimir, in a workshop managed by Gerhard Rogge, whose initials we see on the reverses of these coins. The present coin is the rarer, third vintage of the issue.
A variety with the date in the rim of the reverse, rather than in the console under the shield of the coat of arms, and the titulature ending in L R P.Obverse: bust facing right, wearing a crown and armor with a masquerade, covered with a cloak. On the chest the Order of the Golden Fleece. In the rim:IOA CAS D G R POL & SUE M D L R P
Reverse: the coat of arms of the city placed on an ornamental console, supported by two lions. Above it a wreath and a branch emerging from it. On the sides of the console the initials G-R. In the rim:
MON AUREA CIVITAT GEDANENS 1657
