SWIDNICA, NEW ORE. A cassette shtambouche of Świdnica middle school students. It belonged to a student of the Świdnica Gymnasium, who came from Nowa Ruda. He collected 30 entries of his schoolmates from 1850-1851, some of the entries in Latin and even Greek. In addition, 20 others - a total of 50 entries. Strawbook in very ornate borders (gilt, floral motifs), dimensions 110x170 mm.
The grammar school in Swidnica traces its tradition back to 1241, when the first municipal school was opened. In 1707, after the peace of Altranstädt, the school was converted into an evangelical one, in addition to the approval of the Peace Temples. It was known for its highlevel of classical teaching, as evidenced by relevant entries. Particularly noteworthy is a depiction in ink and watercolor of the Swidnica Gymnasium. Made in 1851, it shows the building of the old gymnasium. The new one was put into use in 1854, built on the grounds of the former Franciscan monastery. 9 entries in the album weremade in Nowa Ruda in 1851.
