Minor rubbing of covers, good condition. Unpaginated inventory numbers, small decal on pre-title page of vol. 2. In both volumes stamp. Kornel Krzeczunowicz (1815-1881) - landowner, nobleman, politician from an old Armenian family connected with Lviv. "He was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv in the Krzeczunowicz family chapel [...]. His funeral became one of the largest mourning manifestations of the city of Lviv during the partition era" (Wikipedia). His grandson, Kornel Krzeczunowicz was a cavalry officer and, after the war, an émigré writer. The volumes presented here are the first edition of Kraszewski's popular novel.
