tempera, board, 112 x 57 cm. Time of creation: 18th(?) century, Russia. Icon after conservation; conservation uncoverings (visible fragments of blue background and exedra). The text refers to the celebration of the meeting (sretieniye) of the Vladimir icon by the people of Moscow (August 13) on the hill, which is still called Sretienskaya Gora (a commemorative Orthodox church is erected on it). The version of the kontakion in tone 8 is archaic, today another version is in use. Translation of the text: To the victorious Hetmanskaya (song) of victory, because she saved us from evil. (On account of) the Arrival of Thy venerable image, (O) Ruler, a shining feast of Thy meeting we make, and as always (literal: usually) to Thee we cry: Merry (be greeted; welcome; Old Polish Hail) Virgin Bride!
