NIETKÓW, ZIELONA GÓRA. An extensive panorama of Nietkow near Zielona Gora with a view of the Oder River and ships - watercolor on handmade paper. The panorama of the town was painted on both sides of the sheet (!), on a similar principle as several photographs are taken today for very wide photographic panoramas. Each side measures 510x260 mm, giving a total width of 1020 mm.Condition bdb. Pen signature: Polnisch Netke. Unique.

The view was painted in the beginning of the 19th century, when the family of Peter Biron, Duke of Kurland, became the owners of the Nietkow estate. On his recommendation, the architect J. K. W. Schulz carried out a complete reconstruction of the estate. Aneoclassical mansion integrated into a vast park was created, in addition to a whole series of buildings with economic purposes, but also for entertainment, including a theater pavilion, orangery, guest pavilions, so-called bachelor houses. After 1800, Nietkow became the favorite summer place of the widowed Dorothy Rev. Biron, who used to come there from Żagań. The panorama is of great documentary value. Although part of the view is obscured by greenery, one can see the buildings of the Birons' estate, including the manor house hidden in the trees. On the other hand, in the second view, the focal point is an antique temple styled building with an outdoor staircase, probably one of the most important buildings for the entertaining Biron society. The author of the panorama was probably someone from Rev. Biron's immediate family and social circle. An extremely important source for the history of the Lubuskie residence.
