Binding somewhat soiled, boards over-cracked at spine, extreme pages browned, trace of moisture in lower margin in places, slightly folded right margins of two facsimile pages. In vol. 1 facsimile of two letters from Adam Mickiewicz to his brother Franciszek, on the plate a steel engraving by Antoni Oleszczyński depicting the first monument to Mickiewicz on Polish soil, which was erected in Poznan according to a design by Władysław Oleszczyński in 1859 (destroyed by the Germans in 1939, it was rebuilt in 1998). The first edition of the bard's correspondence edited by his eldest son Wladyslaw. The first volume of correspondence contains letters written by Mickiewicz to friends and family (including Ignacy Domejka, Antoni Edward Odyniec, Stefan Garczyński, Bohdan and Józef Zalewski) and speeches by the poet. Attached is an extensive bibliographic description of editions of Mickiewicz's works in Polish and foreign languages, Polish and foreign reviews and other publishing items concerning the poet and his works. At the end a list of images of the poet and an index of letters. Volume 2 contains, among other things, "Exceptions from letters about Mickiewicz written", "Poems to Adam Mickiewicz", "Poems about Mickiewicz", regester of letters. The edition is shrouded in disrepute due to Wladyslaw Mickiewicz's numerous interferences in the content of his father's letters (T. Boy-Żeleński wrote much on this subject in "Brązowniki").
