Clock with figure of the dancing Faun

Clock supported on a rectangular base of black marble with 4 bronze legs; decorated at the front with a relief scene with putti, and below surrounded by an acanthus frieze and an appliqué of floral thread. Higher up, a tree trunk with a hidden clock mechanism with a Parisian system of striking hours and half-hours; the dial is round, with Roman hour division, framed by a frame in the form of a snake swallowing its own tail.
Standing next to the trunk is a figure of a half-naked faun in patinated bronze and gilded is a copy of a marble sculpture by Massimiliano Soldani Benzi (1656-1740), exhibited at the Tribuna Uffizi - Uffizi Gallery in Florence; the faun dances and strikes the boilies - plates held in his hands; his right foot rests on a device attached to a sandal: "kraupezion" - a metal plate, the sound it produced emphasized the rhythm of the musical piece. A copy of the naked faun on the clock was adorned with a shielding lambskin (?) slung over his shoulder.
