August III of Saxony, 1754 EC, Leipzig – very nice
On the obverse, a crowned bust in right-facing profile.
On the reverse, a crowned coat-of-arms shield. Below the shield, the denomination VI and the initials E–C (Ernest Dietrich Croll—Master of the Leipzig Mint).
The bust features a smooth cross-section of the shoulder strap and a smooth ribbon of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
The crown fields on the obverse and reverse are smooth, with suspensions in the central fields.
The clasp is oval.
Condition: 2/2+
A beautifully struck and well-preserved piece for this type. Good detail. Luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. A beautiful coin.
