low, narrow, geometric, architectural shape, glazed on front, with cabinet at bottom, veneered; 163.5 x 100.5 x 42.5 cm;
Western Europe, 1930s.
Rectangular cabinet, with rounded front corners, glazed in the front with two sliding panels and a two-door cabinet at the bottom, supported on turned legs with two wide rings. The frame of the glazed front is black lacquered, the rings crowning the corners and the legs in the spaces between the rings are so finished. Handles in the form of brass gold handles. In the interior behind the glass panes three glass shelves.
The cabinet could have been used as a servant's cupboard or a handy library, with a modern form, coming out of the art deco style, but processed to the requirements of the declining interwar years. From the form, the presentation-storage space was skillfully distinguished by black lacquering.
