Grzegorz MORYCIŃSKI

Studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under professors Stanislaw Szczepanski and Artur Nacht-Samborski, receiving his diploma from the latter in 1961. Works in painting, drawing, printmaking (etching, linocut) and applied graphics (posters, book graphics). He creates figural compositions, the form of which owes much to the color tradition in which the artist was trained. He had his first solo exhibition in 1960; since then he has exhibited many times at home and abroad. During martial law, he participated in the independent culture movement, with many exhibitions in churches and private shows (exhibition in the studio of Maria Anto, together with Jaroslaw Modzelewski, Warsaw 1983, group exhibition in the studio of Urszula Brzozowska-Strzałecka, Warsaw 1984). He was also associated with the circle of the parish of Divine Mercy on Żytnia Street. He won numerous awards, including honorable mentions in the Jan Spychalski Competition in 1973 and 1977, the Warsaw National Council Award in 1968, an award at the "Bielska Jesień" exhibition in 1979, and the "Solidarity" Independent Culture Committee Award in 1988. In 1993 he was a Pollock-Krasner Foundation scholarship recipient. His works are in leading museum collections in the country and in many private collections in Poland and abroad.
