German painter, graphic artist, costume and stage designer of the 20th century. Representative of Berlin Expressionism. Also used the pseudonym Erich Thum. Studied French literature, married the writer and stepson of Hermann Sudermann, Rolf Lauckner. Took lessons in Dresden from Charles Johann Palmié, the founder of the artists' colony in Kallmünz. Interacted with Charles Palmié and Max Pechstein. Exhibited with Paul Cassirer together with Vuillard, Sisley, Courbet and Pissarro. In the 1920s exhibited with Hanns Goltz, Ferdinand Möller, and Kunsthaus Schaller in Stuttgart. As a costume and stage designer, worked with Max Reinhardt and Gustav Gründgens. 1937 some works destroyed during the Nazi action Degenerate Art. 2005 exhibition at the Barthelmess & Wischnewski Gallery. Artistic model Giovanni Segantini, especially in the landscapes influence of Pointilism visible. The pregnant woman was created immediately after acquaintance with Max Pechstein, motherhood and pregnancy with references to classical icon depictions and archaic dancers in the background.
