Obverse: bare head right

L AELIVS CAESAR

Reverse: Concordia seated to left on throne, holding patera and resting left arm on cornucopiae balanced on ground, on a baseCONCORD in exergue

TR POT COS II

Diameter 17 mm, weight 2.87 g

Aelius was the adopted son of Emperor Hadrian. He was elevated to the dignity of Caesar by him and was expected to be a successor, but unfortunately he died a few months before Hadrian. He is entitled L AELIVS CAESAR on his coins and is depicted with an uncovered head, curly hair, a beard, and a majestic face.
